Remembering Cecilia Brophy

Back in 2011, when I first started recording videos for my Memories of Blackville website, Cecilia Brophy was one of the very first people to respond and agree to share her memories of growing up in Blackville. We filmed her video on October 23, 2011 — exactly 14 years ago today — and published it just two days later on YouTube.

Cecilia passed away earlier this week, and I wanted to share her video today in her honour. She was such a wonderful lady — always kind, always smiling, and always willing to stop for a chat whenever I saw her out and about.

When I think of Cecilia, I remember her helping out at the church suppers and taking part in the St. Patrick’s concerts — always there, giving her time, her laughter, and her heart to the community she loved.

I’m grateful she took the time to sit down and reminisce that day — her voice and spirit will always have a place in the story of this village. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
