Province Investing in Blackville Park

At a press conference today in Blackville, Premier David Alward, along with MLA Jake Stewart and mayor Matt Sturgeon, announced that the New Brunswick government is investing $75,000 in improvements to the community park.

“Investing in community infrastructure projects that promote healthy living is a key part of our government’s plan to rebuild New Brunswick and create jobs,” said Premier David Alward. “The community park is a valued part of life in the Blackville region, and this investment will improve the quality of life for families and residents.”

The investment will go toward buying new equipment; carrying out landscaping and other land work; erecting new signs; and servicing the walking trail.

$75,000 seems like a lot of tax payers money for landscaping! But in reality, is the work being done by volunteers? Is this a make work project for people on social assistance/unemployment or students? Is this how the premier is creating jobs for New Brunswickers? More info regarding the project would help shed light on how tax dollars are being spent.
