Blackville High School graduating student Riley Sherrard has received a prestigious Lord Beaverbrook Scholarship from the University of New Brunswick. The grade 12 student was notified last week that he had been awarded the scholarship valued at $40,000. Beginning in September 2015, Riley will receive $10,000 per year for 4 years.
Riley, the son of Robert and Krista Sherrard of Blackville, will be enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration program at UNB in Fredericton, and plans on becoming a chartered accountant. He is also class valedictorian.
The Lord Beaverbrook Scholarship is awarded to six students in New Brunswick each year. Selections are made on basis of scholastic attainment, moral character, industrious habits and financial need. Funding is made available by the University of New Brunswick.
